Emily Imbach is a 22 year old creative from the South Bay in Los Angeles, currently based in Santa Barbara.
Being an artist is something innate within me that expressed itself before I could even make sense of it. I practically came out of the womb singing and dancing which led me to study ballet and performing arts as early as I could. These early forms of expression also taught me about channeling my experiences into my art. The fascination with cameras and the art of photography developed while I was a preteen. I was inspired to collect cameras and educate myself through research and experimentation. In high school, I start refining the technical skills of digital and analog photography. I was recruited to be Editor of Photography for our award-winning yearbook and had a developed AP Art project exploring classic literature and 35mm film photography. |
I spent two years studying marine biology and photography at University of Hawaii at Manoa where I was introduced to the media world of professional surfing. My passions for the ocean and photography conjoined and I became enthralled with shooting surfing and other action sports. These days, I maintain my relationship with the professional surfing industry through work for Channel Islands Surfboards here in Santa Barbara.
I believe there are few limitations to my creativity as I have experimented with many mediums throughout my life. My multidisciplinary interests have led me to pursue a degree in the arts concentrating in Design and Photography here at home in Southern California. As a budding adult I'm excited to utilize my creative background and dedicated studies as a base for life as a professional artist.
