Having the ability to write about art is a crucial piece of being a strong artist. With this in mind, my Photography teacher assigns us subjects to investigate through blogs. On my AP Art blog you can find posts that analyze topics & other artist's work, provide information about PVHS Photo Club, reflect on my own work, give tips on various techniques, and more.
"There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs." -Ansel AdamsI chose to write about this quote because it was the quote i resonated strongest with from the list of 7 famous photography quotes and how to apply them to your photography. Photography is a very interpretive medium, and i believe that some of the best photos actually break the 'rules' of photography, i.e. rule of thirds, leading lines, etc. my eye is always drawn to images that break the rules because they stand out among the rest. like a rebellious teen, there is always an interesting story behind the photo and why the photographer decided to go against their instinct and shoot it that way.
For example, many photographers don't believe in minimalism or lots of negative space, but my photo above goes against that principal. I decided to shoot the house in this way because i thought it portrayed the sense of vastness and mystery i felt out in the middle of the mojave desert. Comments are closed.
