Having the ability to write about art is a crucial piece of being a strong artist. With this in mind, my Photography teacher assigns us subjects to investigate through blogs. On my AP Art blog you can find posts that analyze topics & other artist's work, provide information about PVHS Photo Club, reflect on my own work, give tips on various techniques, and more.
I selected three of my favorite images from Times' 100 most influential images of all time list 1. A Man on the Moonthis was the first photo that jumped out at me when i was looking over the 100photos list. Missing all of the iconic factors that you would expect in the photos from the first moon landing (like the american flag), this image depicts so much more. it capture the energy of being on the moon. the endless darkness that lay behind buzz aldrin as he takes some of the first steps on the moon and the miniscule patch of footprints in the bottom left of the image portray the emptiness and loneliness that you would feel if you were to step foot on the moon. 2. 99 Centi first like this photo because of the composition. the colors of all the products on the shelves and the depth of the image were really appealing to me, and it grew even more interesting once i started reading about the photo. this image was shot in 1999 by Andreas Gursky in a Los angeles 99 cent store. it is a single image stitched together by multiple photos he shot in the store. ironically, this photo of the cheapest items you can buy is the most expensive contemporary photo ever sold, for $2.3 million. 3. Milk Drop Coronetthis image also stood out to me because of the composition. Harold Edgerton is extremely well known for his high speed photography, but milk drop coronet is probably my favorite one of all of his photos. i love the red tone to the milk and the perfect shaping of the splash of milk with the additional drop coming down above it.
