Like in plants?Yes. Chlorophyll is essential for plants, making them grow properly and stay healthy. Aside from plants, chlorophyll is actually very healthy for humans and has many benefits. We all consume chlorophyll through vegetables and herbs such as spinach, kale, parsley, wheatgrass, peas; the list goes on and on. The only thing about consumption through plants is that chlorophyll doesn’t last long in the digestive system, and so you don’t get the full benefits by just eating vegetables. The best way to get lots of chlorophyll would be through a supplement, which can be a tablet, spray, or liquid. BenefitsThe benefits of chlorophyll are seriously endless. 1. antibacterial & skin healing- Most of us struggle with skin issues at some point, and the antibacterial agents in chlorophyll are extremely helpful in fighting issues like acne. 2. fights insomnia- This is something I have struggled with for years. A combination of a decaf tea, healthy (vegan) diet, chlorophyll water, and good sweat as often as possible (I try to workout someway every day, but we both know I don't always meet that goal) have helped me fall asleep quicker and have a deeper sleep. 3. detoxification & weight loss- a popular claim is that chlorophyll can help in weight loss. This is because chlorophyll works with hunger hormones and results in the feeling of being full, longer. Nutritionist Elissa Goodman says “In addition to being nutritionally fabulous for you, chlorophyll is a detoxifier that promotes energy and weight loss. Chlorophyll binds with environmental pollutants including toxic metals, pollution, and certain carcinogens, and promotes cleansing, which in turn gives us more energy, mental clarity, and the potential for weight loss.” These are just 3 benefits of chlorophyll that stood out to me. There are many more including the prevention of natural odors, increased red blood cells, and even fighting or preventing cancer. Also, chlorophyll is nontoxic to humans when not taken excessively, although some people may experience some digestion problems. You can also get chlorophyll poisoning if you consume too much, researchers have not found it to have any serious side effects. SupplementsI posted a photo of my mysterious green drink the other day and got multiple DM's asking me what the heck I was drinking. "Chlorophyll! (:" I responded. I choose to take liquid chlorophyll; I incorporate it into all of my smoothie bowl recipes as well as drinking at least one glass of ice water with about 10 drops of liquid chlorophyll daily. In a smoothie bowl, you don't taste it at all. Putting 10 drops into water makes the water taste very fresh with a hint of peppermint. I have yet to try chlorophyll tablets or spray, but I love adding at least one glass of this water into my daily routine because it taste great and has so many benefits!
